How much does a concrete countertop cost?

Since Pia Designs concrete countertops are completely custom they are priced individually. This price is based mainly on complexity rather than by the foot. For example: An 8' countertop is not necessarily twice the price of a 4' countertop. Prices will usually range from $50-$100 per square foot.

Do concrete countertops crack?

Concrete countertops can crack but not like driveways or foundations. Every Pia Designs countertop is different and some do develop hairline surface cracks. These cracks are known as crazing and are welcome part of the aging process involved with concrete countertops. Although these surface cracks may appear immediately or develop over time they do not represent any loss of structural integrity.

Are concrete countertops heavy?

Concrete countertops are heavy but most cabinets will support them without modification

Will it have seams?

Many countertops will have seams due to size and weight limitations. These seams can be hidden or used as design elements depending on the application.

Can I cut directly on my concrete countertop?

The concrete itself is not likely to be damaged by your knives but they can hurt the sealer. Concrete countertops are finished with a sealer that protects the surface from staining. If you would like to be able to cut directly on your counter tops Pia Designs can integrate a cutting board for you.

How long will my concrete countertop last?

Indefinitely. Concrete countertops will last as long as you want them to if they are properly cared for. It is also possible to refinish concrete as needed to bring that new concrete glow back to the surface.

How do I care for my concrete countertop?

Clean spills up as soon as possible after they happen, the sealer will prevent any stains from setting but if left for a long period of time stains can penetrate through the sealer. Avoid placing hot pots and pans directly on the surface, this will not hurt the concrete but can cause the sealer to fail. Generally keep them clean as you would any other countertop using mild soap and warm water, and reapply wax to the surface every few months or as needed.
